Dry Brushing, a Great Summer Prep for Your Body Skin

As we head into the warmer, more active summer months, it’s the perfect time to focus on a skin fitness regimen for the body to keep you looking healthy, smooth, fit and firm. One of the most effective, (and my favorite!) is DRY BRUSHING!

I love this simple daily approach to body skin wellness that only takes five minutes a day, costs nothing, and helps cleanse your body, inside and out. Dry skin brushing has a number of health benefits and is so simple to do.

SO HOW DOES IT WORK?

Your skin, the largest organ in the human body is an organ of elimination. One third of your body’s toxins are excreted through the skin and dry brushing helps to unclog pores and excrete toxins that become trapped in the skin.

TO GET STARTED, FOLLOW THE SIMPLE STEPS BELOW:

1. Use a natural (not synthetic) bristle brush.
2. Remove all clothing and stand in the tub/shower area.
3. Begin gentle (light pressure!) brushing starting at your feet and moving in long sweeping motions toward your heart. always brush toward your heart.
4. Lightly brush several times in each area, overlapping as you go. Don’t use too much pressure at first.
5. Target problem areas such as hips, thighs, behind; be gentle with legs and arms and avoid breast/chest area.
6. Once you’ve brushed your entire body, jump in the shower and cleanse body as usual. Our sugar scrub works beautifully after cleansing to further remove dead skin cells and lock in moisture.
7. After getting out of the shower, pat dry skin. (Now is the perfect time to apply your body moisturizer or our Cellulite Control Body Glow).
8. Continue to dry brush your entire body 2-3 times weekly if possible. Clean your brush with soap and water once a week. Let air day in a clean area. Try this for 30 days and see the results for yourself!
